Geocaching News Worldwide Geocaching: The sport where YOU are the search engine! I finally activated the TB tags I have had for months I haven't had very good luck with my Travel Bugs. The very first one I put out, "Leapin' Lizzards," had a rocky start, and then after six months in a cache in the California Desert, he finally moved on. After more than a year, he is still out there, but he is my only success story Another T.B. went missing when the person who had it in their possession moved . . . Presumably, it is in a Rest Stop and Botanical Gardens We got home from finding Million Dollar Bridge yesterday and I went to log the find and noticed two new caches in the same area placed by Cardinal. So I downloaded the geocache information for Rest Stop and Botanical Gardens and loaded up the Magellan eXplorist 400 so I would be ready today. Both of these [...] Lake Springdale Cache After finding Million Dollar Bridge yesterday afternoon we headed over to hunt the Lake Springdale cache. I didn?t know this lake existed and it is not far from our home. We found it after wading through the thorns and bushes for a few minutes and Hannah and Megan made their trades of geocaching buttons for [...] Million Dollar Bridge - Third Time Charm Third time was the charm on this geocache. Hannah and I had unsuccessfully searched for Million Dollar Bridge two other times and yesterday we took Megan to help sniff it out. The first time I logged a DNF and the cache owner emailed saying that he checked it out and it had been moved approximately 30 [...] Just had to share DocDiTTo's Forum signature Geocachers: The craziest subset of the nicest bunch of people you'd ever want to meet. Numbers are pointless, but memories are priceless. If you've got more finds than fond memories, you're playing this game backwards. I really like the last one. I've stopped hunting for the urban caches. I really prefer the long hikes, and especially the caching adventures with other cachers. Wedington Trail Meets the Illinois River Cache Had a wonderful time before going to work yesterday while hiking in the Wedington area to find Wedington Trail Meets the Illinois River cache GCW00V. I also grabbed WC 849 and Smoky on the way home. I parked and grabbed my pack and hiking pole and while standing by the car getting my Magellan eXplorist 400 [...] Leave No Trace - http://adventuresingeocaching.blogspot.com In keeping with last week's theme of environmental awareness, I thought I should also mention another great non-profit organization called Leave No Trace. The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and inspiring responsible outdoor recreation through education, research and partnerships. There are 7 principles of the Leave No Trace program: (information obtained from http://www.scouting.org/boyscouts/resources/21-105) Plan... I'm back SallyC and I took a long weekend to go to the coast just to find caches for the DeLorme Challenge. Over 1000 miles of driving led us through 29 different map sections... 17 of which I needed giving me 51 of 76. All of the 25 sections I need are east of I-5... its going to be a lot of driving to complete. We concentrated on driving and crossing off map sections so we only found 22 caches. But... Two great hikes . . . and my first Terracache find This time of the year, the sky might be blue, but there is a lot of haze because of the onshore flow of clouds and fog, so during the two wonderful hikes, I didn't take too many pictures. Saturday I was with Drexotic, Blonds Run Amuck, Trailgators, Radio Racers, duganrm, and TFTC. After a week at home, it was very nice to be out to talk and socialize as we hiked to five of my caches, two of I Really Intended.... to get out and geocache some this weekend! Unfortunately, it didn't happen. I'm a geocaching loser :) Actually, it was hotter than a...well, we've all heard the naughty comparisons so I will just say it was hot and humid. It is going to be a miserable summer. One of the symptoms of my MS is increased heat sensitivity. When you live in the south, that just sucks. Oh well, I figure I am stuck here for the time being. Even thought I did...
